Medicine Hat has been my home for many years. While our city may have my heart, I still have very deep rural roots. I grew up on our family ranch, just North of Walsh, AB. I have a passion for working with people. For fifteen years, I managed MLA Rob Renner’s Constituency Office and learned more than I could have ever imagined about our community and the amazing people that live in our Province. My desire to help those in our community that struggle to meet their basic needs led me to the Medicine Hat Community Housing Society. I spent six years managing the administration department of the social housing and rent subsidy programs in Medicine Hat and the surrounding area. Family has always been at the center of everything in my life. A major life milestone for my family occurred when we had to make the decision to place my father in care. It is actually because of that experience that I chose to pursue this path in my career. Since 2018 as both Assistant General Manager and now Site Leader for The Wellington have been a pleasure. I find the Park Place Corporate Culture to be a warm family-like environment that embraces values so important to me.

Kara Duce, our resident food and beverage manager for the last fourteen years leads our kitchen team as they prepare fresh delicious, and inspired meals that make dining at The Wellington a delightful culinary experience. Residents are encouraged to join in the main Harvest Dining Room, The Cottage Kitchens (Sl-4) or book the private dining room area for social functions.

Greetings! I'm Kyra, your friendly face at the front desk here at The Wellington.

Many of you may remember me from my previous role as one of the dedicated HCA's before I took some time off to welcome my newest addition into the world in October of 2023. Originally from Cochrane, AB, I made the move to Medicine Hat with my husband in the spring of 2018, following his career path. When I'm not stationed at my desk, you'll often find me soaking up the outdoors, enjoying precious moments with my children. And come the weekend, you can bet I'll be enthusiastically cheering on my little ones from the hockey arena stands – a proud hockey mom through and through!

Returning to The Wellington feels like reuniting with my second family, and I couldn't be happier to be back. I eagerly anticipate reconnecting with all of you once again.

Medicine Hat has been my home for many years - I graduated here, met my husband here (almost 40 years ago) and we raised our family here.

I am so proud of my 3 grown children, their spouses and my 5 beautiful grandchildren - they are the inspiration in my life!

I've spent many years supporting people - I was a health care aide and decided to go back to get my nursing - graduating in 2017.

I have been at The Wellington since August 2023 and have enjoyed every minute. Getting to know the staff and the people that live here, as well as their families, has been so rewarding for me. They are the heart, the passion of my nursing career.

Hello there, I'm Lisa, and my journey began on the shores of Newfoundland before I found my way to Medicine Hat seven years ago. Since then, I've undergone a significant career shift, transitioning from Supply Chain Management to the vibrant world of Hospitality. 

Working at The Wellington Retirement Residence has been an absolute joy for me. My background in volunteer work with seniors and various non-profit organizations has provided me with a deep appreciation for the importance of community and connection, making my role here all the more fulfilling.

Beyond the workplace, you'll often find me indulging in my passions for travel, sports, and live concerts. Volunteering is also a cornerstone of my life, as I find immense joy in spreading random acts of kindness and going the extra mile to brighten the days of both my colleagues and the residents we serve. There's nothing quite like putting a smile on someone's face.

Dave is a dedicated maintenance professional with a knack for keeping things running smoothly at The Wellington. With years of experience under his belt, he's the go-to guy for fixing anything from leaky faucets to malfunctioning HVAC systems. Known for his friendly demeanor and can-do attitude, Dave takes pride in ensuring residents' comfort and safety. Whether it's day or night, rain or shine, you can count on Dave to roll up his sleeves and get the job done right. When he's not tinkering with tools, you'll likely find him enjoying a cup of coffee or swapping stories with residents.

Meet Amber-Lee, the office administrator at The Wellington. With her meticulous approach, she ensures smooth operations, from managing payroll to handling administrative tasks efficiently. Amber-Lee brings a professional yet approachable vibe to the office, tackling challenges with a positive attitude. Whether she's assisting residents or streamlining office procedures, she approaches her work with dedication and reliability. Outside of the office, Amber-Lee enjoys pursuing hobbies like gardening, hiking, and giving back to the community through volunteer work. At The Wellington, Amber-Lee's expertise keeps everything running seamlessly.

Hello, I'm Brooks, proudly born and raised right here in Medicine Hat. My journey with The Wellington has been a dynamic one, encompassing various roles and responsibilities.

Beginning in 2018 as a server in our Harvest Dining Room, I swiftly adapted to the changing needs brought forth by the pandemic, transitioning into a housekeeping role to ensure our residents' safety. As challenges arose, I eagerly embraced them, subsequently delving into maintenance, then a reception role.

With a thirst for knowledge and growth, I pursued my passion for marketing, completing my education in the field. Now, I'm thrilled to lend my expertise to Park Place Seniors Living as the Social Media Coordinator, The Wellington’s parent company. While still actively engaging in sales support at The Wellington.

When I'm not immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of The Wellington, you'll likely find me indulging in my outdoor pursuits – whether it's skiing down snowy slopes, biking through scenic trails, or exploring new destinations through travel. And of course, a bit of retail therapy never goes amiss.
